What is Watson Outreach?

Watson Community Outreach is a program of the Watson Baptist Church. It has a council of five members, but they are not all Baptists. Watson Community Outreach is not a hand out, but offers a helping hand in the community for those who need it. We have had benefits, auctions, suppers, raffles, and skits to raise money for those who have serious illnesses, accidents, or just down on their luck. Check out pics from Watson Outreach productions in the galleries.

Crazy Tator Day 2005! --> Crazy Tator Day in Watson was hot, but we had lots of fun and festivities. The decorated tator contest had Rosita Stoner coming in first place with her "Spudmobile", Tony Shirley came in second with his "Id a hoe potato", and Anna Beth McMahon coming in third with her "Turkey". 1st place winner of the tator recipe was Tammy Oakes with her "cheesy potatoes", Anna Beth McMahon second with her "potato chip casserole" and Kay Gibson in 3rd place with her "ranch potatoes". The winners of the horseshoe pitching contest were Anna Beth McMahon and Earl Stoner with Susan Long and Gib Holmes coming in second place.
The winner of the "Bessie Messie" contest was Jean Pierce from Council Bluffs, IA. A big thanks to Renee for loaning us Eeyore. The winner of the blue "Flying geese" quilt was Turk from Hamburg Oil, and the winner of the "Purple Mountain Majesty" quilt was Lisa Diers, Rock Port.
Donna Whelan won a white hairy monkey for guessing the "How many tators in the jar contest" by coming the closest. She guessed 105 and there were 108 in the jar, and yes, even those tiny tators were real tators. There were lots of fun prizes won by the kids and lots of nice prizes won in the Bingo game.
We want to thank everyone who helped in any way to make our day a success. A big thanks to the Wayne Phillips family from Hamburg for giving the kids horse rides. We'd like to give a big thank you to all our sponsors: Mr. & Mrs. Charles Garst, Mr. & Mrs. Jason Garst, Garst Farms, Clodfelter Ins., Graybill Tire, Brown Ag., Mo. Valley Ag., 3 B's Ins., Bill Andrews of State Farm, Holmes Logistics, Livengoods, Trails End, Rock Port Shell, Clay Pot, Curt & Layne Messbarger, Tom & Jenny Beutler, Rock Port Telephone, Atchison County Farm Bureau Ins., and King's Auto Parts.
